What is the origin of the G12 Vision?

20190417_g12

God called Pastor Cesar Castellanos, after pastoring small churches for nine years, to open the International Charismatic Mission in the living room of his home with 8 people on March 19, 1983

Six months after starting the church, he began to train disciples who could help in leading the cell groups, but the results were not as desired.

The Lord guided Pastor Cesar Castellanos to seek Him in prayer, because he knew that there had to be a mechanism to achieve the growth that he longed for.

It was at that moment when God gave him the revelation of the G12 Vision.
In that time of prayer, the Lord gave him a specific word:

“I will give you the ability to quickly train your people, and he asked: How many people did Jesus disciple? If you train twelve people and manage to reproduce the character of Christ in them, and if each one of them does the same with twelve others. And if you, in turn, do the same with twelve others, transmitting the same thing to each other, you and your church will experience unprecedented growth."

The biblical texts that speak of the contact that Jesus had with the crowds came to the mind of Pastor Castellanos, and he understood that this contact had been sporadic. One day he was with a certain group and the next day with a different one.

The only group that Jesus did not change was His group of twelve disciples. Thinking about these questions, the Lord removed a veil from his eyes and revealed why he needed to form 12 people.

(Matthew 9:36)

4. Reproduce the teachings of Jesus: The G12 Vision reproduces the character of Jesus in new believers. They learn to apply each one of His teachings and become faithful disciples who are ready to teach others.

What is the purpose of the G12 Vision?

Some people think of developing ministerial work to achieve some kind of personal recognition, but the only valid objective of ministerial work is to magnify the work of God.

The Vision is the tool that the Lord entrusted to us to magnify His Kingdom and His name, not ours.

That is why we always have the doors open to teach the Vision to all those who want to run with it, because we understand that it belongs to the entire body of Christ.

04

What is the biblical foundation of the G12 Vision?

The instruction of Jesus was to make disciples and not just followers. That is why the G12 Vision provides effective tools to develop this calling and to fulfill the ministry that the Lord entrusted us to make each member of His church become a disciple, a worker sent by God.

FOLLLOWING JESUS

“Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
(Matthew 9:35-38)

Jesus told us that if we want to be successful in ministry we should follow His example.

“I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.”
(John 13:15)

For many years an attempt was made to carry out the Great Commission, but forgetting the way in which Jesus did it first.

The G12 Vision follows the example of Jesus in winning souls and making disciples.

“Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him. He appointed twelve that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach and to have authority to drive out demons.”
(Mark 3:13-15)

The vision that God has given us is the answer to the desire of His heart. We are not doing something new, we are simply following the example of Jesus.
The best strategy for developing consistent growth in the ministry is through personal discipleship, as Jesus did, who invested most of His ministry time in building His team of 12 disciples.

How should a church transition to the G12 Vision take place?

Each church has a different story. Some have established leadership, some have cell groups and others are simply churches with a specific membership that meets every Sunday. But regardless of this, every church and everyone who wants to implement the Vision G12 needs to have experienced a personal encounter with Jesus.

Being part of the G12 Vision does not require you to change the name or denomination of your church, but it does require you to maintain a constant relationship with the Holy Spirit. Because it is He who really brings effectiveness in the work of the Vision in your church.

TRANSITION G12

Some people try to implement the Vision as if it were a simple method. They expect to see great results just by following a few steps. But they forget the most important thing:

That everything, including ministerial growth, begins with having an Encounter with Jesus.

All ministerial success depends on your relationship with Jesus.

07

What are the first steps in implementing the G12 Vision?

The Vision breaks the traditional framework of one-person-centered leadership, providing that opportunity for anyone who has undergone a process of restoration and training.

“And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses, entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.”
(2 Timothy 2:2)

The Lord Jesus gave us the best example of teamwork by forming a group of 12 men, whom He prepared by pouring out His character on them. They became His collaborators during His ministry on earth and after He left.

You might also be interested in: Why focus on discipline 12?

1. Teamwork: We emphasize the importance of working with a team in the same way Jesus did, applying the strategy of the model of the twelve for the development of the Vision.

“Calling the Twelve to him, he began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over impure spirits.”
(Mark 6:7)

2. Faithfulness: To implement the Vision it is essential to be clear about the principle of faithfulness, which consists of following the suggestions given in each step of the Vision, without adding or subtracting anything.

“Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.”
(John 15:4)

3. The value of each member of your church: Each person who comes to your church is very valuable. You should never look at the earth that covers them, because that is like being focused on their problems and conflicts. You should look at the great value of each person and in that way your disciples will flourish.

“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.”
(Matthew 13:45-46)

4. Edify the Church: When we see each member of the church as a leader and we allow ourselves to be guided by the Holy Spirit, each person finds their place in the Vision and in that way it becomes very easy to implement it.

“Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades[b] will not overcome it.”

08

Can I implement the G12 Vision and keep the name of my church and denomination?

Yes, you can implement the G12 Vision in your church, keeping your name and denomination.

The international G12 Vision provides help, advice, tools and training to Pastors and leaders who need it. Our desire is to make Jesus' dream of making disciples come true in all the nations of the world.

Our goal is to support the body of Christ in carrying out the Great Commission effectively and efficiently.

Since we are an interdenominational organization you can keep the name of your church and continue under your denomination. We do not interfere in the private affairs of your church.
Our main emphasis is to be able to spread the gospel of Jesus through the G12 Vision and work in unity with the whole body of Christ.

09

What are the steps to develop the G12 Vision?

Within the Vision, we have established four steps that allow us to develop effective ministerial work:

PASOS VISON

We call these steps “The Ladder of Success”. The basis of the ladder is Win, because if we don't win, we can't consolidate, disciple, or send.
As you go through each of these steps, your ministry will reach a new level.
In order to affirm a person in their walk with Christ, we must first win them. If we win them, we can consolidate them and if we have consolidated them, we are able to disciple them. In that way we will have someone to send.
The Ladder of Success allows churches to lead new believers through a process that helps them to become genuine disciples of Jesus.

10

What is the Ladder of Success?

THE LADDER

The Ladder of Success, when properly implemented, leads us to experience unprecedented growth. It is defined in four fundamental stages known as: Win, Consolidate, Disciple and Send. These stages will bring multiplication and fruit, which not only remains but also grows.

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.
(John 15:16)

The Ladder of Success has two very firm foundations in the process of Consolidation (retaining the fruit) and Discipleship (forming leaders who reproduce themselves in others) that have helped the churches exploit their full potential.

Before focusing on the four steps, it is important to mention some general considerations that will allow you to understand some basic concepts of working with The Ladder of Success:

1. It is a single process: When planning your work, remember that the success of your work depends on the whole process being carried out in an excellent way.
Don't just think in terms of Winning or Disciple, but always keep the whole Ladder in mind.
Every person who passes through your church should be won, nurtured, discipled, and sent.

49471676022_1f3a00f088_cDo not be fooled, taking a shortcut or skipping any of the stages will not make you see faster results. Set your heart on doing the Vision with excellence.

2. It is a continuous, consistent and simultaneous process: That it is continuous means that it is always in motion, in constant motion. It is not something that is done only once, but it becomes the engine of the church.

Being consistent means that you always need the same encouragement, effort, and dedication.

That it is simultaneous means that there will always be people in different stages. While some are being won, others are being consolidated, discipled or sent.

3. It focuses on the needs of each person: It is very important to understand that the spiritual and ministerial development of each person is different. Some people may need more time and direction than others to get from one stage to another.

49493385348_082980b2f2_c

Never allow ministerial work to become a rigid method that is more important than the needs of the people. Remember that we are here to help and our focus is that each person finds the right path.

4. Sensitivity to the voice of the Holy Spirit is needed: In order for you to have the desired growth, it is necessary to listen carefully to the direction of the Holy Spirit. He will be the one revealing the specific plan for each moment.

49471888177_976dcb0067_c

5. Keep all the information updated and verify the work: Excellence and order in the handling of information are very important in all the work of the Vision.

An organized and updated database allow us to:

• Have solid church information in order to be able to verify the growth, the completed goals and the fruit of the different strategies.
• Plan the appropriate church strategies in order to retain all the fruit that was gained and strengthen the areas that are weak.

Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.

The G12 Vision is the plan that Jesus carried out on earth. It is the model that Jesus gave us so that we can fulfill the Great Commission. Over the years, the G12 Vision has allowed us to reach thousands of people for the Lord, making them true disciples.

How to receive the G12 Vision?

For the Vision to enter into your life, it is necessary to spend quality time with the Holy Spirit. In that way you allow Him to plant His ideas in your heart. He alone knows the depths of the heart of God, the essence of the G12 Vision, and God’s dream to see the nations being transformed.

“However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him — these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.”
(1 Corinthians 2:9-13)

1. For the Vision to enter into your life, you need to spend quality time with the Holy Spirit. In that way He can plant his idea in your heart.

“But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.”
(John 16:13)

2. It is necessary to project a picture in your mind as clear as the image on a television screen.

“He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness.”
(Genesis 15:5-6)

3. Through His Word:

  • Think about the Word, proclaim the Word and practice the Word.

“Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.”
(Romans 10:17)

  • Put your eyes on Jesus instead of your circumstances.

“Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him, he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
(Hebrews 12:2)

4. A miracle is the natural result of a pure and genuine faith. A miracle is not something external, it begins inside you. What you dare to believe, you can also conquer.

“Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” (Romans 4:18)
